In copyright matters, Mr. Pflaum specializes in identifying and quantifying literal and non-literal copying (via the AFC method) through source code review and code comparison. Isaac has also been retained in licensing disputes in which he utilized data-mining of both web-based and off-line materials to quantify and document thousands of unauthorized first, second and subsequent uses. In some cases, Mr. Pflaum also has prepared demonstratives, including working instances of software to demonstrate how the look and feel of an accused expression is similar to or different from the asserted work. Mr. Pflaum has consulted for experienced copyright attorneys representing large businesses in high-stakes litigation, as well as attorneys with less experience in copyright law, or who are taking on their first copyright case. Mr. Pflaum as also consulted assisted attorneys representing individuals in litigation against large entities.
